Trump has been saying that Florida’s performance during the COVID-19 pandemic was very bad, and worse than New York.
Here is the cumulative death rate by States (per 100,000, as of 3/10/23)
- Arizona 455
- Oklahoma 454
- Florida 404 (# 12)
- New York 397 (# 15)
- Vermont 149 (#51 - DC & PR are included)
- Hawaii 130 (# 52)
New York started very badly, but improved after the vaccine was available. Florida was the reverse; started failing later, possibly because many Republicans (a lot of the Trump supporters) started to question the mask mandates, vaccines and other protective measures.
There may be some correlation with median age (retirees in Arizona, Florida, etc.).

However, Vermont (one of the best performers) has a higher median age than Florida or Arizona (the worst performer)
